Richmond Reds by Barbara Brackman (an American Quilting Historian) for Moda Fabrics is a range of reproduction fabrics from the mid-to late-19th Century. The fabrics have been reproduced in historical colours and popular designs of that era and include rustic brick reds, rosy pinks, subdued greens, as well as deep chocolate browns and beige; which were all part of the common palette used for everyday wardrobes, bags and quilts at that time.
You’ll find basket weave patterns, tossed blossoms, sprigs, leaves and floral trails, as well as patriotic stars all reproduced in the warm shades traditionally obtained from madder dyes. The collection is named after Richmond, Virginia, USA where many of the historic brick buildings add similar colours to the city’s architectural heritage.
Each print is named after an American town. Colours range from the classic madder red of the 1840 -1880 era, a subdued bronze shade of green, several rich browns, a romanticised sepia colour-way, and an almost white “shirting” cream.
Beautiful Moda fabric is imported from the USA (sizes & specifications are based on the USA marketplace) The fabric can be used for making heirloom quilts, fashion apparel, home decor projects and crafts.
